Sign language and gesturing

I do some sign language. I do it when I am in bed. I can’t use my computer then. When I want something, I start out by grunting to get my caregiver’s attention. They say “What do you want?” to get the guessing process going. I try to look at what I want if I can see it from my bed. Here is an example. I want my fireplace heater on. I grunt and my caregiver says “What do you want?” I look at my fireplace. They say “You want your fireplace on?” I nod my head yes or shake my head no. It is a process but it is worth it.

Blake I'm sure you find it frustrating when someone doesn't understand you when you're communicating with them, what are some things people can do to help you with communication needs, other than patience?

Yes especially when your caregiver won't accept it and thinks you are acting like a child
