When I went to camp this year, my counselors used a hoyer lift. For the first time ever, they said I was too heavy for them to lift. There is a sling and you lay in it like a hammock swing. The sling is soft thank goodness. The sling has 4 small loops and there is 4 large hooks on the hoyer lift. You roll on your side and your caregiver puts the sling under you. You roll back on your back. Your caregiver puts the loops on the hooks. They pump you up. They push the hoyer lift to where you need to go. They push a little button to lower you nice and slow. When my counselors said they were going to use a hoyer lift, I thought “Oh great. ” I thought the sling was going to be hard. The sling is nice and soft. The best part is when you get in bed, it feels like soft on soft.
