Margy said, “Why?” Dawn said, “That’s what Shawn does. You have to too if you don’t want to go to school.” Margy said that she wanted to go to the cabin for Christmas. She said, “I remembered looking at the frozen lake at night. That night cannot be replaced. 32 degrees it was, and we were able to look at it from the living room.” Dawn said, “Sticking stickers to the windows is a blast at the cabin too.” Margy said. Dawn said, “I know, baby, but you have to behave, though.” “I don’t want to behave,” Margy said.
A couple of days later, Margy said, “Why?” Dawn said, “To go have fun, you need to be good at home. You need to be good at school.” Margy said, “No, I refuse to.” She said, “Then you can’t go and have fun. I would be too worried about you.” Margy said, “I don’t see the issue with that.” She said, “Me and daddy would be too nervous about you getting enough rest. We will be worried about your eating, worried about your drinking, everything.” Margy asked, “Who says I can’t drink? Aunt Terry lets me.” She gasped. She said, “Margy Elizabeth, you’re only 17.”
“I can do whatever I want,” Margy said. Rich, her dad, said, “Not the way you act these days.” She said, “Why? We go to the pub. Is there a problem coming back from it on Saturday night late?” Terry said, “You are 17 only. You cannot go to the pub.” “I doctor my document, meaning I put it off,” she said. “You have to go to the classes that mom signed you up for, Margy. To me, that is special education, and you don’t need that, don’t you think, Dawn?”
