A Dolly Miller story

*By the way, I have changed my mind about Dolly’s disability. She has Cerebral Palsy. I am not Dolly though. Same character though.

“Dolly Falls Out Of Bed

                                     On Purpose”

Once upon a time Dolly was going to bed. Her mom finished getting her dressed and she turned the lights off. An hour later, her mom and dad heard a thud. Dolly fell out of bed. Her mom and dad was mad at her. By the way, this is the weekend of Christmas. They were supposed to go to the cabin. Her mom and dad asked themselves “Should we still go to the cabin?”

“If we take Dolly in to see Dr. Nelsen, he will probably want an x-ray taken to see if anything is broken. If anything is broken, she will have to have surgery. They will admit her into the hospital. Sod it. Leave her home. She can spend Christmas in the hospital. ” Dolly started crying. She said on her DynaVox “I don’t want to spend Christmas in the hospital. ”

“Listen up Missy!” Dolly’s dad said angrily. “I don’t take naughty kids to the cabin, especially for Christmas!” Dolly’s mom said angrily “That is right!” Her mom asked her dad “Should I call Kitty’s Ranch?” Her dad said “Ya. I don’t tolerate that behavior in this household! Especially around Christmas time!” Kitty’s Ranch was the assisted living home at the hospital by the way.

Dolly’s mom called Kitty’s Ranch. Kitty’s Ranch had an opened bed. Dolly started crying again. She asked her mom and dad “Are my days of living at home over?” Her dad said angrily “Yes there are! Me and your mom are moving to the cabin!” Dolly’s mom said “Ya, let’s move to the cabin. Margy and Rich are getting so old. They want to give it to us. They said that at Christmas last year. ”

“Yes and I started crying because I was so happy. I love Lake Mormy. It is so beautiful in the summer time. I remember when Dolly was 4, we went fishing up there and she kept saying “Dadda more Dadda more Dadda more Dadda more Dadda more. ” Dolly started crying again. She said “I am jealous. I love the cabin. Why can’t I move up there with you guys?”

Suddenly, Dolly’s dad had a light bulb go on in his head. He said “What if we build Dolly a house up by the cabin and hire her a caregiver?” Dolly’s mom said “I don’t know, let’s ask her. Peanut, do you want us to build you a house by the cabin?” Dolly said “Yes, that would be a dream come true guys. ” Dolly’s mom and dad built Dolly a house by the cabin.

Dolly and her mom and dad moved up north. Her mom and dad built her a house overlooking the lake. They hired her a caregiver named Sandy. They got back to doing their favorite activities. Dolly and her dad got back to going fishing. They made a campfire every Saturday night. Dolly was so happy that her mom and dad thought twice about her housing.
