Once upon a time, there was a girl named Dolly. ( not short for Dolorus. ) Dolly had down syndrome. Like Shelia, Dolly was home schooled. Dolly was home schooled because she had a hard time concentrating in public school. She was pulled from public school in 2nd grade. Her mom and dad asked her “Do you want to be home schooled?” “Yes mom and dad, I am falling behind. ”

“I am spending 97% of the day in Mrs. Massy’s room. ” Dolly said. Mrs. Massy was Dolly’s case manager by the way. “Mrs. Massy is saying stay focused Dolly. ” Dolly’s mom said “My friend, Macey, is looking for a home school job. I will get a hold of her and we will get you going with home school. ” Dolly’s mom said. Dolly said “That would be great mom. ”

Dolly said “I have trouble concentrating in my mainstream classes. ” Dolly’s mom said “That’s what Mrs. Massy and Mrs. Sathring say when I talk to them. They say you are quite distracted. ” Dolly said “Chris keeps saying hey miss. ” Dolly’s mom said “OK sweetie. I know. I am worried about you falling behind. I am feeling you sweetie. ”

“Ya mom. It will be a good move on our part. I focus better with my pink kitty. ” Dolly said. “I know. You can’t really have your pink kitty in school. Okay. I will schedule an IEP meeting to sign you off and we will get you going with school at home ASAP. That stinks when you can’t focus in school Dolly. ” Dolly’s mom said. “No kidding mom. I don’t even like being in school. “
