Target Corporation is the 8th-largest retailer in the United States. It is a component of the S&P 500 Index. It was founded by George Dayton. It is headquartered in Minneapolis. It was named Goodfellow Dry Goods originally in 1902 before being renamed the Dayton’s Dry Goods Company in 1903. It was renamed the Dayton Company in 1910. The first Target store opened 1962.
